My name is Liz Daniel, and I am a Breast Cancer Survivor.
As a breast cancer survivor, one of my goals is to promote awareness of Breast Cancer and the important role that early detection plays in surviving it.
My Story, in a Nutshell
The sad part of my story is that I did not get a breast examination as recommended, simply because I did not want to take off work. The result of my neglect was that I had a lumpectomy.
However, had I waited much longer, the result probably would have been a mastectomy. I got lucky, despite my being lax about getting my examination. One out of eight women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. The key to prevention and survival of breast cancer is early detection through regular breast exams. Because of my own experience, I want to help encourage women to get regular breast exams.
Safety and Wellness Reminder Product Designs Inspired by Life
I am also a Zazzle designer and I have an online Zazzle shop called Liz Daniel Emporium. My life-changing and eye-opening personal experiences are what inspired me to open a shop – not just to sell products, but to offer products designed to be safety, health and wellness reminders, to help us all to prevent tragedies and create good habits that will help us to enjoy healthier, safer, happier lives. In addition to the physical safety, health and wellness reminders, I enjoy designing products with inspirational messages meant to uplift people’s spirits mentally and emotionally.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In honor of this month being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I designed a Breast Cancer Awareness Keychain that I hope will inspire women to get regular breast exams, because early detection is a key component in being a breast cancer survivor. I want to encourage women to not put off their examinations, like I did. Getting a lumpectomy, and catching my breast cancer early enough to survive it, were eye-opening lessons in my life that have inspired me to want to help with spreading awareness about the benefits of early detection.
This breast cancer awareness keychain is a great reminder, since it is seen regularly whenever we use our keys to enter our homes or vehicles. Alternatively, it can be hung somewhere often seen, such as your refrigerator door, in the shower, or in front of a make-up mirror. This keychain is meant to be a visual reminder about the importance of getting regular breast exams.
